Our Pastor
Timothy Walton Killion was born December 30, 1959 in Milwaukee, WI, the sixth child of eight children of Reverend Russell (deceased) and Barbara (nee Allgood) Killion (deceased). He and his wife Kathy (nee Bazar) have been married for 40 years. His children are Timothy Andrew (Christy) Killion of Monticello, IL; Joshua (Jennifer) Killion of Decatur, IL; Kaitlyn (Graydon) Gettier of Auburn, AL; and Karen (Aaron) Collier of Marietta, GA. Tim and Kathy have 11 grandchildren.
Tim was baptized at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Milwaukee and raised as a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Marengo, Illinois, where he was confirmed in 1974. He graduated from high school in Enterprise, Alabama, and received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Auburn University in 1982. Upon graduation from Auburn, Tim received his commission as an officer in the United States Air Force.
After serving ten years in the Air Force and working for two years as a Satellite Communications Engineer, Tim entered the seminary in 1994. He received his Master of Divinity from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, IN, in 1998. From the seminary, Tim received a call to serve Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where he served until 2007 when he resigned from the clergy roster of the LCMS. He was then called to serve Epiphany Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Unaltered Augsburg Confession in Tuscaloosa, where he served until accepting a call to be pastor at Our Redeemer.
In his time in Tuacaloosa Tim taught high School mathematics, coached High School basketball, worked in restaurant management, and owned his own restaurant to support his family during his worker priest days with Epiphany. He leaves behind a ministry of 20 plus years with the flock in Tuscaloosa and is looking forward to a long and fruitful relationship with the people at Our Redeemer. God is gracious and he will provide for pastor and people.
